Coronary arteries angiography is a procedure for diagnosing cardiovascular diseases. In spite of the low risk of coronary artery angiography method, it could lead to stress, anxiety and consequently hemodynamic changes in patients. The goal of this study is to assess the effects of inhalation aromatherapy with Rosa damascena on stress, anxiety, and hemodynamic parameters of patients undergoing coronary angiography.

Therefore, a randomized clinical trial was conducted on 98 patients in Besat Educational Hospital and it was evaluated whether inhalation of rose essential oil can reduce stress, anxiety, and how blood flows through blood vessels. Before coronary angiography, patients at aromatherapy group inhaled five drops of a 40% dilution of rose essential oil for 20 minutes, while the control group inhaled distilled water. Significant changes in anxiety, stress, and hemodynamics (heart rate, mean arterial pressure, blood pressure, and blood oxygen saturation) were observed in the rose group when compared to controls.
